First of all this hotel is located far Near Roadway to the mountains I was around mid April snow is still taking place up in the ropeway it is hour drive from Takayama; why I'm saying all ? of this Because I will highly recommend if you staying in this hotel more than two nights then probably rent a car. so you'll be free to visit all the nearby attractions the hotel is absolutely 10 out of 10 amazing hotel the stuff is helpful and polite the room is just amazing comfortable They have great heater for the room in the cold winter (because it getting really cold up here) the view is gorgeous The location as I said is just amazing And you have the view of the mountains this hotel is more for the adventurous traveler hot spring experience is magical They have an outside open air hot spring big location the breakfast was tasty Japanese traditional style I didn't have dinner but it will probably be just as good it's not I didn't like it it's just far and you need to consider if you want to stay here for more than two nights !

The hotel location is next to the Shinhotaka ropeway, which is perfect for us to catch the cable car the next morning. It was snowing on that day (7 Apr). We were lucky enough to experience Japan's snow powder. The Japanese kaiseki meals are delicious. The hotel has an English speaking staff who explained the food when we were close to the end of our dinner. Traditionally rice was served close to the end of the kaiseki meal. However, he said we can always ask the rice in the beginning of the meal which we did in our next kaiseki experience and it made our food more enjoyable. The photo in yukata was the start of the dinner. The other photo was breakfast. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. The view of the female outdoor onsen is a beautiful mountain view. The hotel itself is surrounded by mountains. Absolutely beautiful.

The onsen was amazing. The onsen on the men’s side consisted of one indoor pool, two outdoor pools, and two individual tubs outside. It was amazing. The hotel itself was a bit dated and the staff, while wonderful, were not as attentive as other Ryokans we have stayed. One other reviewer described it like staying at grandma’s house. This was a fair comparison. Finally, this hotel is very remote, the last place on the bus route. Given the price we could have stayed closer to town, but we loved the Onsen and our overall experience was excellent.

Drew

Absolutely amazing staff! Beautiful outdoor Onsen (especially lovely on colder days), one can also book a private bath. The food was sublime! Delicate presentation and delicious. The most amazing part though was that after the first night we told them that two people would prefer vegetarian food and not only did they prepare the rest of their meals vegetarian, they prepared the whole feast as delicately and with as many different creations as the traditional food for non vegetarians!

Karl

Ideally located if you're planning on taking the Shinhotaka ropeway (as moving around the villages can be hard without a car as you have to follow the bus timetable), the place is set on giving you the best experience for a relaxing stay by the mountain. The room was superb, diner was great and the onsen is cherry on the cake. Relaxing in a hot spring outside in the cold with snowflakes running around while contemplating the snowy mountains around really makes a magical moment
